Do you wonder why Inheritance Publications
prefers not to accept Credit Cards?
To accept Visa from an U.S. customer we would lose up to about 18% of our profit margin!
And our customer would have to pay about 2% extra for the exchange rate.
How does this work?
If we buy a $10.00 book at 20% discount, we would pay $8.00.
We would sell it for $10.00.
We would have to pay 3.5% commission to Visa which is $0.35.
Our $2.00 profit margin would be reduced to $1.65, a loss of more than 17%.
In order to compensate for that loss and for the loss of other parties all retail prices would have to be increased by more than 20%.
Most manufacturers and suppliers have indeed calculated that 20% into their suggested retail prices.
As a small publisher we are very hesitant to do this.
Therefore we prefer to be paid by cheque upon the customer's receipt of books.
